You Can't Hide the App Library on an iPhone, but Here's What You Can Do

Since the release of iOS 14, many people have raised their voices for the iPhone’s app library. And if you are one of them, you must be looking for a way to get rid of it.

Unfortunately, there is no way to hide or remove the App Library from your device. But, there are steps you can take to improve your experience with it. So, let’s look at your options.

Learn to Avoid the iPhone App Library

Currently, the only way to “get rid” of the iPhone App Library is to simply escape it. You can find the App Library at the bottom of your Home screen pages—all you have to do is swipe right once you’re there. Although you can just avoid swiping up, there are other steps you can take to prevent them from getting into the App Library.

1. Add Widget to your Home Screen

One way to avoid the App Library is to add more apps, folders, and widgets to your Home screen. The more items you have, the longer it takes you to scroll through the App Library, making it easy to ignore.

Some of the best iPhone widgets take up a lot of space on the Home screen. Plus, they can even increase your productivity. For example, there are widgets for viewing your email, maps, weather, and more. So, choose the ones that suit your lifestyle and add those widgets to your home screen.

2. Add new apps directly to your home screen

It’s possible that your new apps are downloading directly to the App Library, making it unwieldy to open unless you use Spotlight Search (more on that below). You can fix this by making sure that your iPhone adds new apps to your home screen.

3. Use Search to Find Your Apps

There’s always a risk of stumbling across an app library while trying to locate an app. However, instead of rummaging through folders and home screen pages, you can simply use your iPhone’s Spotlight search function to find it.

To use it, simply swipe down on any Home screen page, type the app you’re looking for in the search bar, and tap Go to open it. Easy isn’t it?

iPhone App Library Doesn’t Have to be a Dealbreaker

New iOS updates can be a challenge for some iPhone users who are used to doing things the traditional way. However, Apple is constantly improving its software to keep it fresh.

While we may have to live with the App Library for now, who knows what the future holds? A few useful tips and tricks may be all you need to fully embrace the app library.

In previous versions of iOS, every app on your iPhone would appear on the Home screen. But with the introduction of App Libraries in iOS 14, this is no longer the case. These days, you can remove apps from the Home screen, by hiding them out of sight in the App Library.

That’s all well and good if you’re aiming for a clutter-free home screen, but finding the apps you use every day can take longer. That’s why we’ll show you how to add apps back to the Home screen in the guide below.

Drag apps from the App Library to the Home screen

The fastest way to move apps from the App Library back to your iPhone home screen is to drag them.

First, swipe from right to left on your Home screen to find App Library. Then, find the app you want to move by searching in various categories or tapping the search bar at the top of the page.

When you find the app you’re looking for, just tap and hold on it for a second until you feel a tap or hear a click, then use your finger to drag it to the Home screen. Slide the finger to the left side of the screen.

Now you can drop the app exactly where you want it, or slide it back to the right edge of the screen to add it to the new Home screen.
